The Barony of Fettburg is the chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. for the Stockton-Manteca-Modesto, California area.  We are part of the Kingdom of the West and the Principality of Cynagua.  We have been recreating the better parts of the Middle Ages since A.S. XI or 1977 in the current era.

OUR MISSION

We study the Middle Ages and Renaissance through studying and recreating the better parts of them.  This includes:

  • Music

  • Dance (Court, Middle Eastern & Folk)

  • Costuming

  • Calligraphy

  • Illumination

  • Cooking

  • Brewing & Wine making

  • Heraldry

  • Archery

  • Armor-making

  • Equestrian arts

  • Martial arts forms very similar to medieval tournament combat and rapier fighting.

  • We also share this through our publications and demos which we do for schools and public events.

THE GOALS AND INTENDED AUDIENCE FOR THIS WEBSITE

  • To provide a common source for communicating activity and event information to our members.

  • To provide an introduction for new and potential members to our group.

  • To make it easier for potential members to find us and get involved.

WHAT DO WE WANT OUR VISITORS TO THINK/DO AFTER VISITING?

  • We want our visitors to be interested enough in our activities to contact someone either through one of the officer's e-mail links or through our form on the "Contact Us" page and find out more.

  • We want our members to use the site to find out details about local activities and events.  The data here will be more detailed and current than the data in the Page (West Kingdom monthly newsletter.)

WHAT WILL WE DO TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS?

  • There will be links to this website from the Kingdom's website (http://www.westkingdom.org/) as well as from all of the other branches who maintain links on their websites.

  • All Baronial events will have pages on this site and there will be links to these pages from the Kingdom's Event Calendar (http://www.westkingdom.org/calendar/.)

  • The Home page for the website will have updated META keywords and description tags with as many relevant keys as we can think of.  (i.e.  SCA, Medieval, Society for Creative Anachronism, Renaissance, West Kingdom, Cynagua, Barony, Fettburg, Fetburg, Fett burg, Stockton, Modesto, Manteca)

  • We will submit our site to the free search engines either on our own or through our service provider.

HOW WILL WE MEASURE THE SUCCESS OF THE WEBSITE?

  • Several methods:

    • E-mails and comments from the links on the website.

    • Asking people at our events and activities how they found out about the event.

    • Monitoring Site Usage Statistics from our service provider.

MAINTAINING THE WEBSITE

  • The bulk of the maintenance for the site will fall on the Baronial Web Minister.  This will include:

    • Maintaining the Regnum, Activities, Events, and Links pages as the data is constantly changing.

    • Adding New graphics

    • Adding Additional features over time

    • Changes to existing or additional software features (JAVA applets and Baronial data bases)

    • Checking site for damages due to viruses or hackers

  • Assist Baronial Chronicler maintaining the Skald (Baronial Newsletter) in an on-line format.  This will include new issues and the archive of old issues.  (A separate project will be to transfer as much of the existing paper issues as we legally can into the archive.)
